An Introduction to Ulfa

First thing first, you should know that I feel very awkward writing this. It’s been almost a year since the last time I wrote something. It feels like forever. Alasan yang sama juga lah yang akhirnya membuat gue akhirnya malam ini memutuskan untuk duduk dan kembali menulis, because it’s been almost a year since the last time I wrote something like this. I don’t even know why I stop.

Dan kalau ada yang tanya ke mana hilangnya beberapa post yang sebelumnya ada, we delete all of them. And we're going to start new, we're going to start fresh.

Karena tujuan post ini adalah to introduce you to Ulfa (that’s me!) I feel obligated to tell a few basics about me and my writing. The most important fact: I’m obsessed with Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. I don’t love her character per se but I love her as a columnist. Carrie’s "I wonder…" and "and just like that" are legendary. Yeah, I know that I have a bizarre choice of role model, but Carrie is basically the sole foundation of my writing style. Please don’t judge me. Or do judge, I stand by my choice.

I just simply enjoy sharing my personal view in the chic-Carrie’s-writing style. Menulis dan menghubungkan suatu topik dengan orang-orang di sekitar gue atau real-life event yang pernah gue alami sendiri giving me a whole other level of satisfaction and also new perspective.

I know that Janet and I have been doing a similar thing on our podcast for a while. But there is so much stuff to talk about, so many topics to be discussed over and over again through multiple points of view. Dan untuk gue pribadi, ada beberapa hal yang terasa lebih efektif jika dibahas melalui media tulisan.

So here I am, ready to share and talk and discuss all kinds of things with you. Spoiler alert, I am now halfway on writing the next Carrie Bradshaw-esque kind of content. Until my next post!

Hola!

Another new beginning.

Ulfa here! Those who know me must also know that my passion for blogging is somewhat on and off. I love writing and sharing but I always have a problem with my discipline and consistency. During these past fifteen years, I've been changing blogs so many times I actually lost count on the actual number.

And once again, here I am restarting another blog.

But this time the blog does not only belong to me. It belongs to the GWT team—for now, it was helmed by me and Janet, just the two of us. But I do have a long-life dream to someday can expanding Girls With Tales into a well-known lifestyle platform. That has been the aim from the beginning anyway, I coined the idea of creating a set of Girls With Tales blog, podcast, and Instagram account with that mindset.

Although this blog has been sitting here untouched for one year back because (once again) I'm having difficulties managing it. In the end, I decided to give my 100% focus solely on this blog and deactivate my other blog, the personal one. Considering that there won't be that much difference anyway, I'm still here and I'm so glad that I have a platform to write and to share. That's all matters.

Now, let me introduce a few... should we call it "segment"? Yes, some segments or categories will be posted here:

DAILY TELLY

Well as obvious as it sounds, this one will be a random post from me or Janet about our daily life. What we do, what happens to us, and some other mundane things like that

BOOKS / TV SERIES / MOVIES / SONGS

A review. Both of us watch, read, and hear a lot of those. Also, I and Janet have quite different interests in what we indulge. So the genre on our review might vary. Sounds fun, isn't it?

LIFESTYLE

We will (or mostly it will be just me on this segment) write a relatable insight about any latest happening and trend around us for your reading pleasure

STORIES AND BLOG SERIES

This one is pretty much will be Janet's special corner. Yes, she writes stories and the stories will be posted here! I do write fiction too but it's not so much my specialty as much as it is Janet's but we'll see if I can post some of it here too sometimes

Make-up and skincare thingies, this blog won't be complete if we're not talking about those too, no?

STYLE

Ah, dressing up is fun. So maybe a little inspo about that here and there?

FOOD AND RECIPES

We love to eat and we also love to cook (Janet cooks, I'm more of a baking girl). So maybe every once in a blue moon we will post our favorite eating spot and recipe here too

THOUGHTS

Talking about pretty things sure is lovely. But as modern young women, we also have a lot to talk about ugly stuff and the hard fact that happening around us. Not so much to label ourselves as woke people but we do have our own opinion about that
